Louis' 300,000 residents live downtown! During the 1970s and 1980s - NSL was a bustling, small Metropolis, with tons of small and large businesses operating in the landscape. ![]() The dark, NSL region eerily gives out the vibe that it is now run by the homeless and under-privileged. Louis(NSL) downtown district is loaded with dilapidated, boarded-up buildings, block after block. In fact, after seeing the Cardinals' Busch Stadium and the Gateway Arch - you're pretty much DONE with St. The parking cost doesn't even justify visiting this once-grand monument. Now, it's whittled-down to a Strip Mall, with a few mom & pop shops sprinkled throughout. The Union Train Station was one the largest rail stations in the US. ![]() Louis, simply because the city is so desperate for business, offering cheap group rates.
